This is something new I tried for Memorial Day hoping to impress some guests. Ill never know if they liked it or not - we ate it! I used pears & blackberries, but this should be just a springboard for you.

6-8 ripe pears - peeled, halved, cored, and sliced
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
3 Tbsp. sugar
1-2 pints blackberries
1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup ground almonds
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
6 Tbsp. butter - chilled & diced
1/2 cup roughly chopped pecans

Toss the pears with the lemon juice: scatter 2 tbsp. sugar over and set aside for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Drain pears, discarding the juices, mix them, then place in a 12 x 8 pan. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp. sugar.

Combine flour, almonds, and brown sugar in a bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Scatter this over the fruit, then scatter the pecans over.

Bake for 35-45 minutes, covering loosely with aluminum foil after 20 minutes if it starts to brown too quickly.
